The 98th Pennsylvania offers to its local schools and communites a chance to
learn and experience the life of the Civil War soldier. By sharing this knowledge
and experiences, we feel we can enlighten the public about the Civil War and how
things really were. Through drilling, a women's sanitation
commission and cooking demonstrations plus fashion and period item displays related
to life in the Civil War era, we can enrich your knowledge and give insight that
you may not receive anywhere else. This hands on aproach is a necessary part of
teaching Civil War history, from the very young to the very old. By seeing it and
feeling it for yourself, you'll learn more about things you aren't taught from
a book and you will get a better understanding and appreciation of our nation's
past. We also teach from the civilian aspect as well, to give you an idea
of what it was like for the wives and children of these Civil War Soldiers.

We also set up a living histories, We have participated in Horsham Day in
Horsham Township, PA. This year we are setting up to welcome the Irish
Emigrant ship, Jeanie Johnston, in Bristol, PA. With a company street set up we were able to show the general
public how a Civil War encampment looked and how cooking was done along with a firing

such as these to help teach the public about the Civil War era.
